TERMS & CONDITIONS
1½ hour lessons – £45 (subject to change)
Payment is by bank transfer only in advance. On no account will credit be given. Please ensure that the payment is made before the lesson. Please make sure the pupil name is used as the reference. Because we are not using paper records or issuing receipts, please pay for each individual lesson on the week it is taken.
On your first lesson you will be given a booklet to record your lesson progress and also your appointments and payments. Please bring this book to every lesson.
DURATION OF LESSONS
Standard lessons last 1 hour or 1½ hours unless otherwise agreed. It will be assumed when booking that your start and finish point is the normal one unless you advise the instructor otherwise. Please advise your instructor 24 hours before your lesson if your pick up or drop off point is going to be different. This may also result in your lesson time having to be shortened to avoid disruption to other pupils. If you are not at the pick-up location within 10 minutes of the start of your lesson, the Instructor will not wait any longer, but the lesson fee must still be paid.
Please give as much notice as possible as this minimises disruption to the instructor and makes the lesson space available for other pupils. Remember too that missing lessons will slow down your progress in learning to drive and you may lose your regular lesson slot. The following will apply for cancelled lessons:
Failure to attend – full lesson price.
Less than 24 hours’ notice of cancellation – full lesson price.
The instructor reserves the right to cancel the lesson due to bad weather, mechanical breakdown of the vehicle or any other reasonable cause. If there is bad weather you should assume that the lesson will continue unless the instructor contacts you. It is your responsibility to ensure that the instructor is aware of your current phone number.
It is possible that due to traffic conditions, your instructor may be late for your lesson. If he expects to be more than 10 minutes late he will endeavour to contact you. If the instructor is late you will still get the full hour or 1½ hours tuition agreed.
You will be given a structured course of lessons, tailored to your individual needs. Our aim is to help you to be a good, safe driver and to pass your test. Please do not book your test until your Instructor feels you are ready. The DVSA requires that Instructors do not allow people to sit the test if they are not ready for it.
You may not have lessons while under the influence of alcohol or drugs. You must advise your instructor of any points on your licence or pending court cases. If you need glasses or contact lenses you must make sure that you wear them. If you have any special needs that may affect your driving or your learning, please advise your instructor.
When you book your test, please book for Workington Test Centre and quote ADI Number 192264. Failure to do so may mean that your test needs to be rescheduled. In addition to the Driving Test Fee you will need to pay £65 on the day to your Instructor for use of the car. This covers a 1 hour lesson before arriving at the test centre, use of the car for the test itself, a debrief at the end of the test with your Instructor and getting back home after the test. If your test is at a different test centre to Workington a higher fee will arise. Two weeks before your test we will arrange a mock test with you and this will require a double lesson. Note – I am not available for Saturday tests or tests before 9.00am. When you have booked please print your booking confirmation and bring it to your next lesson or email it to email@example.com.
If the test is cancelled at short notice by the DVSA for reasons other than adverse weather, the full £70 is payable. This is normally reclaimable by the pupil from the DSA. It is the pupil’s responsibility to ensure that in the event of bad weather, they call the test centre 01900 602901 to find out if the test is going ahead.
If you have a complaint please address it in writing to Allerdrive, 81 Main Street, Great Broughton, Cockermouth CA13 0YJ. If your complaint is not dealt with to your satisfaction you should contact the DVSA.
